Noa Boutique Hotel
Why We Love It | Design, environment and care of the environment
Noa Boutique Hotel faces the Atlantic, on the Galician coast, in the bay of A Coruña.

They do not forget the gastronomy, its wellness center, the outdoor pool and many other small details that give them their own personality.

Music & photography inspiration
Néboa concept represents the Atlantic Culture from design, architecture, photography, people, materials, nature, objects and much more that you will discover here.
To start this video.
The photography used is delicate, with Atlantic light and details such as the linen used in some of them, transport the essence of the Atlantic Culture.
People also represent this Culture, landscapes, materials such as wood or objects such as ceramics.
They are Ataque Escampe.
As they say, they produce songs with sweet and sour sauce. Sad music that represents his style and that you can see more on his page.

Without a shadow of a doubt, these would be the best photographs that best define Néboa

Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean is Ireland.
Its green landscapes, its wild sea, the people who inhabit it, its customs, buildings and its Celtic origin among many other things make it part of the Atlantic Culture.
But, there’s more.
The essence of each design, the materials used, the gastronomy and every detail that you find when you explore this country shapes the Atlantic style that in Neboa concept we want to share.

Where did the idea for this accommodation come from?
It is the result of the search for a way of life that will combine what we like the most, nature, design, rural …
Mu Moradas do Ulla is the most coherent and respectful possible with the environment and whoever visits us.

Our main philosophy is respect for people and everything around us.
FRAN DEVESA
Who are you? What part of you has the accommodation?
I am Fran Devesa. I was practically in all the phases of the project, from the design to the materialization and construction of the houses.
I am also the one who manages the accommodation, almost everything, except the cleaning.
What is the identity of the brand?
The unique architecture and simplicity of the design, a Nordic-inspired interior design, the warmth of ecological pine wood as the main material and the selection of a consistent and integrated naturalistic landscaping.
Much of the furniture, like the house itself, is portable, and was designed and built by us.
Why do you think your accommodation shares the Atlantic Culture?
Because I think we know where we are, and we are proud. I think that we cannot offer another culture, landscape, climate, gastronomy … because we have to offer the best and with a lot of respect for what we have.

What additional services do you offer?
Natural and artisan breakfast served in the cabin.
We also have a menu from a nearby restaurant that can serve lunch and dinner in the cabin.

Location
Located in a rural landscape of the Compostela region, between forests and meadows, very close to the Xirimbao suspension bridge over the beautiful Ulla river.
Close to Santiago de Compostela and also to the virgin and lonely beaches of Arousa Norte and the Atlantic.

Where to find | www.casamaceira.com
All pictures are from Casa Maceira

Where did the idea for this accommodation come from?
When I discovered this place, I felt that it was the ideal place to build a home and start a new life stage.
The peace that is breathed, the calm that it transmits, the mountains, the vegetation, the river, was what I was looking for.
After more than two decades traveling as decorator and window dresser in the inditex group, I decided to make this change in my life and carry out this tourism project.

In Casa Maceira, childhood memory of living in nature is immediately recovered, the lost smells, the change of seasons, the calm, not worrying about schedules and relaxing from obligations.
JOÃO CARLOS
Who are you? Why did you decide to create Casa Maceira?
I’m João Carlos.
I have decided to set up this tourism project with my partner, to change my life after working for more than 20 years at Inditex as a decorator and window dresser.
The entire interior of the accommodation is designed and decorated by me, it is my essence.
What is the identity of the brand?
In Casa Maceira, childhood memory of living in nature is immediately recovered, the lost smells, the change of seasons, the tranquility, not worrying about schedules and relaxing from obligations.
These feelings are what I want to transmit to people who want to spend a few days in our house.
You will surely find your own reasons to feel at home and enjoy an unforgettable vacation.
Why do you think your accommodation shares the Atlantic Culture?
Our accommodation is surrounded by nature, in a rural setting, near the mouth of the Miño River in the Atlantic Ocean and near the fishing port of A Guarda.
The town where our accommodation is located is a pilgrimage center as the San Campio de Lonxe Sanctuary is located.
We always recommend to our guests the typical gastronomy of Galicia, as well as the places of cultural interest of our land, also supporting the small artisans who are in our area.

Why is your accommodation different, what makes it unique?
Everything in Casa Maceira is taken care of to the maximum, being ourselves the ones who take care of every detail and the attention of our guests, personally attending to their needs within our possibilities.
We achieve this by living in a part of the house, that is why the accommodation itself is a home and that is what we want to transmit.
What additional services do you offer?
The farm has a swimming pool with magnificent views, with a common area where you can rest, relax quietly and have breakfast.
There are various species of native trees and shrubs, as well as a small stream.
We have respected the environment to the maximum so that you feel in the middle of nature

Oitenta

Oitenta
Why We Love It | Create objects that blend contemporary design with traditional craftsmanship.
You can feel authentic Atlantic Style in their design because of use raw materials, simple design and above all Oitenta connect with the Atlantic Culture values.
Oitenta is an independent product design and making studio located in A Coruña, Spain.
Each design is special one.
Behind Oitenta is Rafael Fernández, a Galician, designer and maker who is going to tell us more about his brand.
Where to find | www.oitenta.com
All pictures are from Oitenta

Eira bench and Eira chair (Eira furniture collection) beautiful and functional design mixed with an excelent craftsmanship by Oitenta & @jorgecarrildesign
How was Oitenta born?
Oitenta started in 2010, but in a very different way than it is now.
It started as a project between friends, we wanted to set up a design publishing company, but due to many factors we were not able to carry out the project.
During the following years, I worked as a freelancer especially developing websites, working for agencies and in some very cool entrepreneurship projects in which I learned a lot, I spent some years in Coworkings meeting people and making friends and carrying out collaborations that still last today.
In 2016 I decided that I had to try to get my products out again and I opted for the artisan production route and started posting my products on Etsy, working from home and using my kitchen as a workshop.
Who are you?
My name is Rafa, I’m from. A Coruña and I was born in 1980, just like the friends with whom I founded Oitenta, hence the name.
I studied design at the Elisava school in Barcelona between 2002 and 2006.
In my childhood I wanted to be many things, especially an inventor and later a cartoonist, until I discovered the profession of product design.
I was never good at working for others and not being able to create with total freedom, so I have gradually evolved until I found a way to get away with it.
Today my brand is totally single owner, I collaborate with friends who give me many things, but Oitenta’s day-to-day life is a personal job.
That gives me the freedom that I value so much but in return, it requires a lot of dedication and being a one-man band.

I really like the simple, natural and austere design, essential.
RAFA FERNÁNDEZ
What makes you unique?
I am not worried that it is unique but it is personal, I do not pay much attention to being unique, my determination is to create objects that reflect my way of understanding design and I hope that people will identify with that.
How do you define Oitenta in a few words?
I see Oitenta as a design studio and traditional craftsmanship of objects for the contemporary lifestyle, objects that combine design and values.

How is the Atlantic culture reflected in your work?
I believe that the Atlantic people are simple, calm, austere people and deeply rooted in our land, the sea and nature, and these values inevitably influence my understanding of my profession.

Little Lorraine
Little Lorraine is another Canada’s Atlantic Style towns with a sad and spectacular ancient history.
It is known for its rough seas and heavy fog.
The British sailing ship Astraea ran aground at night May 8, 1834 on a voyage from Limerick, Ireland to Quebec it quickly broke up, killing 251 people.
There were only three survivors.
There lies a plaque on the ocean floor in memory of the people who died aboard the ship.

Carballo Estrela

Carballo Estrela
Why We Love It | From Pontevedra (Galicia) in a corner in the middle of the countryside where the noise of cars does not reach, Luis Portabales, founder of Carballo Estrela, loves to build houses for birds and hang them on the trees in the middle of the forest.
But he does many more things, here you can discover him and get to know him better.
Where to find | www.carballoestrela.com
All pictures are from Carballo Estrela

Pez Luna model beach shovel and beautiful slingshot design by Luis Portabales to Carballo Estrela
How was Carballo Estrela born?
In 2007 I felt a sudden desire to build a birdhouse and hang it from a tree in the forest, I had no tools and had never worked with wood, the result on a functional and aesthetic level left much to be desired but the feeling of doing what the body asked me was immense.
I was equipping myself with tools and acquiring skills with wood and I made so many nest houses that I knew that this was more than an impulse and it was a vital project that I have continued ever since and that has had different facets.
In 2012 I set up a physical store with the same name where, in addition to my creations, I sold material for outdoor life where the quality of design and materials and a spirit in accordance with the new outdoor sensibility were the filter for the selection of items.
The business closed like so many others during the crisis but the project continues, now about to open a new workshop in a forest near Pontevedra to be able to continue working with my wooden pieces that I combine with drawing and painting work.
Who are you?
My name is Luis Portabales Macías, I live in Pontevedra with my girlfriend, my children, my dog and my cat.
I studied Fine Arts at the Pontevedra faculty where I specialized in drawing and painting.
In the creation of the brand and during its development, all my tastes about music, cinema, comics, painting… all the memories of the afternoons of games and adventures in the mountains of the area have participated, as it cannot be otherwise.
During my childhood….it is a vital project as I have said, so everything that I consider to be important in life is part of it.
Carballo Estrela began being what I was and now I am at that moment where I begin to be what I want Carballo Estrela to be.

I had no tools and had never worked with wood but the feeling of doing what my body asked me to do was immense
LUIS PORTABALES
What makes you unique?
It is a complex question to be answered from me, that should be said by someone who can observe and assess my work from the outside, with the distance and perspective that I lack.
How do you define Carballo Estrela in a few words?
An effort to connect Art, Life and Nature through pieces with both functional and aesthetic value to serve both domestically and in outdoor settings.

How is the Atlantic culture reflected in your work?
I am highly influenced by my land, its landscape, its culture, everything, naturally, without the intention of flying any flag or pretending to have a marked identity, but without being very aware, I think that I do indeed have an Atlantic character that in some way I suppose is present and transfer to my life and my work.
